Jeep & Dodge Join The Electric Market
Jeep Joins the Electric Market with Dodge Following
Jeep’s parent company, Stellantis, has promised that electric models from the former FIAT Chrysler Group would be on their way in the next few years. Rumors have been going around about an electric Dodge and EV Jeep model, but everyone wants to know when.
The company has answered a few questions, namely when the first electric Jeep will be on the road. The answer is by 2023 with other models being added by 2025. Many experts are speculating that the first model will be a Jeep Wrangler.
Earlier in the summer, Jeep announced its goal to offer a fully-electric Jeep 4xe in every SUV model by 2025. Right now, the plug-in hybrid, 4xe, is expanding to include the Renegade and Compass along with the ever-popular Wrangler. The next model is the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe to expand on Jeep’s dedication to zero emissions.
Jeep Wrangler 4xe Turning Heads and Changing the World
Even though the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe isn’t fully electric, it offers several advantages for those buyers who want to have a positive impact on the environment. With the combination of electric and gasoline, the SUV has a range of 370 miles or 49 miles for all electric mode.
Hybrid mode is the default mode for the Wrangler for instant torque and maximum horsepower. Electric mode is an option as long as the battery has more than a one percent charge. Run in eSave Mode to save the battery for later while shutting down the engine when the demand for power is low. Regenerative braking captures braking from decelerating and saves it for when you need more power.
Charging is fast with a Level II charger, which takes about two hours. You’ll find fast chargers around the country, and you can have one installed in your home or use the standard outlet. When using the standard 120V outlet, it takes about 12 hours for a full charge. With this design, it’s no wonder that the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe was named the 2021 Green SUV of the Year by the Green Car Journal. And you can expect other models to have similar stats with the addition of the 4xe technology to conserve fuel and lessen the carbon footprint.
Plans for Other Brands
For Dodge, a plug-in hybrid is anticipated in 2022, but no details on which model will bear the PHEV logo first. There has also been speculation about an electric muscle car coming, but no details have been released.
Chrysler and RAM haven’t provided specifics on what and when an EV model will be available, but RAM is expected to have an electric pickup in 2024.
